Pricing & Plans
How is CoffeeSprout priced?
Pods start at €100 per month (early access). CaffeineStacks managed servers start at €300 per month, or from €550 with the Advanced service level. Managed Pods starts at €350 per month for one workload all-in; platform plus management for up to 5 workloads is €750 per month, with pod capacity billed separately on top. Managed clusters begin at €2,500 per month, plus a one-time setup of €2,500.
What is the one-time setup?
We charge for the initial setup separately from monthly management. For a cluster, the setup covers an architecture session, building the cluster, migration support, monitoring and backup onboarding, and a documented recovery test with a runbook. When we take over an existing application: discovery, handover with the departing maintainer, a runbook, and a verified restore.
Do you offer custom plans?
Yes. If your workload needs dedicated resources beyond the standard tiers, we’ll map a tailored plan during the discovery call.
Is pricing monthly or annual?
Pricing is billed monthly with the option to commit annually for predictable budgeting.
Is there a minimum contract period?
Everything can be cancelled monthly, with no minimum term: Pods, Managed Pods, CaffeineStacks and managed clusters. Notice is one month for you and three months for us. Only if your environment needs hardware we buy specifically for it do we agree a term up front. When you leave, a one-time export of your data and customer-specific configuration is included, within 30 days of cancellation.
What's the difference between Pods and managed servers?
With Pods you deploy containers to our Kubernetes cluster without managing infrastructure yourself. Managed servers are dedicated VMs where you have full control. Pods suits teams that want to ship fast, managed servers suit those who need more control, want specific configurations, or aren't ready for Kubernetes yet.
Can I adjust resources like storage or backup schedules?
The specs per tier are allocated to your VMs. Within a stack we can redistribute storage to fit your application. Grow beyond your stack's total and you pay the published expansion rate: NVMe storage is €25 per 100 GB. Which tier fits your application is something we work out together at intake.
How much storage is included?
Every VM gets its tier's storage allocated, including redundancy and backups. Within a stack we can redistribute storage. Need more than your stack's total? NVMe storage is €25 per 100 GB, SAS/SATA storage €15 per 100 GB.
Why is CoffeeSprout more expensive than Hetzner or TransIP managed VPS?
An unmanaged VPS and a managed platform cover different operational responsibilities. Our platform management includes the load balancer, backups to a second datacenter and infrastructure configuration in Git and Ansible. You have direct access to the engineers managing the environment. Basis response times apply during office hours. With Advanced, we also respond outside office hours to P1 incidents: production unavailability or data loss.
Java & Runtime Support
Which Java versions do you support?
All LTS releases (Java 17, 21) plus the newly released Java 25. We handle patching and runtime updates on your behalf.
Can you run non-Java workloads?
Absolutely. We primarily work with JVM stacks, but also host Python, Node.js, PHP, and other services that accompany your Java applications.
How do Java upgrades work?
Upgrades are included. We stage new releases, validate them on representative workloads, and schedule production upgrades during your maintenance window.
Onboarding & Support
What does onboarding look like?
We discuss your environment and document the work and handover. We then set up monitoring, backups and access, and migrate workloads with a rollback plan.
How fast do you respond to incidents?
That is defined per service level. On Basis we respond to a P1 (production unreachable or data loss) within 4 business hours. On Advanced within 4 hours, and for P1 incidents on production we also respond outside office hours. Response time means a first human response and the start of the analysis. Managed clusters and Managed Pods include Advanced as standard.
Do you provide consulting or training?
Yes. We offer consulting engagements for architecture reviews, JVM tuning, and team enablement.
Can you help migrate from AWS or Azure?
Yes, we have experience migrating workloads from AWS, Azure, and other cloud providers. We create a migration plan, set up the infrastructure, and guide the transition with a rollback plan just in case.
Infrastructure & Compliance
Where are your datacenters located?
Our four datacenters are in the Netherlands: Naaldwijk, Amsterdam, Zoetermeer, and Doetinchem. We own the hardware, no hyperscaler involved. Your data stays under Dutch jurisdiction, without foreign legislation like the US CLOUD Act.
How does your pricing compare to AWS or Azure?
Fixed monthly price, including support, bandwidth, and load balancing. Anything outside the management scope gets a fixed price per job, up front, based on our €120 hourly rate. You know the amount before we start. And your data stays in the Netherlands on hardware we manage.
Do you handle backups?
Yes. We back up every managed machine twice a day, encrypted, automatically verified, and stored remotely. Backups kept for longer periods are stored on tape. For managed databases, continuous WAL archiving is standard: restore to a point in time, not to a backup moment.
Can you work with our compliance requirements?
We are working toward ISO 27001 certification. We document controls for audits and work with a processing agreement as standard for customers who need one. Let us know what you need.
